Madrid, July 3, 2023 – Madrid dressed up in rainbows this weekend. And its Pride festivities were supported by thousands of people, who marched from Atocha to Colón Square. The celebrations begin every June 28th, declared International Pride Day, in commemoration of the Stonewall riots that marked the beginning of LGBT+ advocacy, spontaneous and violent demonstrations protesting a police raid that took place in the early morning of June 28th, 1969, at the pub known as the Stonewall Inn, located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City.

The marches in Madrid last for a week with a wide range of advocacy, cultural, and recreational activities that culminate in the grand official state demonstration on the afternoon of the first Saturday in July.
